Lung pressure secrets: prone position may change ventilator care

NCT ID NCT02416037

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looked at 32 adults with severe lung failure (ARDS) who were on breathing machines. Researchers measured pressure inside the lungs when patients were lying on their back versus on their stomach (prone position). The goal was to see if stomach-lying changes lung pressure readings, which could help doctors set ventilators more precisely. The study did not test a new treatment, but aimed to gather knowledge for better care.
