Can we predict type 1 diabetes before it starts?

NCT ID NCT02184676

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study followed 512 children born to parents with type 1 diabetes to see if early immune system changes and other factors could predict who might develop the disease. Researchers looked at blood markers, gut bacteria, and family environment. The goal was to better understand how type 1 diabetes begins, not to test a new treatment.
