Toddler autism diagnosis may get faster with doctor training

NCT ID NCT07458633

First seen Apr 20, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looks at whether training primary care doctors to diagnose autism in children aged 18 to 36 months can shorten the time from a positive screening to a final diagnosis. About 300 children will take part across multiple clinics. Some doctors will receive special training on a standard autism rating scale, while others will continue usual care. The goal is to see if earlier, accurate diagnosis by a familiar doctor is possible.
