Scientists search for missing link between diabetes and gum health
NCT ID NCT07327086
Summary
This study aimed to understand the connection between type 2 diabetes and gum disease by measuring levels of three minerals—chromium, magnesium, and nickel—in the blood. Researchers compared 74 adults with different health statuses: healthy individuals, those with gum disease only, and those with both diabetes and gum disease. The goal was to see if changes in these mineral levels are related to the severity of gum problems, especially in people with diabetes.
