Which lens implant method stays put better? a Head-to-Head test
NCT ID NCT07768722
First seen Aug 17, 2026 ยท Last updated Aug 17, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether the way a toric intraocular lens is implanted during cataract surgery affects how well it stays in place. Toric lenses correct astigmatism, but if they rotate after surgery, vision can blur. The trial compares two techniques: one using a gel-like substance (OVD) and one using a saltwater solution (BSS). Adults with cataracts and regular astigmatism will have both eyes operated on, each receiving a different technique, and the lens rotation and vision outcomes will be measured over one month.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- TECNIS Eyhance Toric II intraocular lens implanted with either OVD-assisted or BSS-assisted technique
- What this could lead to
- If one technique proves more stable, it could reduce lens rotation after cataract surgery, leading to better vision outcomes and fewer follow-up procedures.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study (80 patients) and results may not apply to all patients or lens types. There is also a risk of complications like infection or lens misalignment, though these are rare.
