New ointment could tame HHT nosebleeds

NCT ID NCT07667413

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This early-phase trial tests a new nasal ointment called TOR-582, which contains sirolimus, in 27 adults with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) who have frequent nosebleeds. Participants apply the ointment inside their nostrils twice daily for 12 weeks, with different strengths tested to find the safest dose. The goal is to see if the treatment is safe enough to study further, potentially offering a less invasive way to manage nosebleeds.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

sirolimus ointment (TOR-582)

What this could lead to

If this works, it could lead to a new, non-invasive treatment to reduce nosebleeds in people with HHT, improving daily life and reducing the need for medical procedures.

What could go wrong

This is a very early phase 1 trial with only 27 participants, focused on safety and dosing. It may not show clear benefit, and side effects or lack of effectiveness could prevent further development.
