Summary

This study tested whether numbing sprays (lidocaine or benzocaine) can reduce pain and improve satisfaction when inserting needles for hemodialysis. Sixty adults on dialysis were randomly assigned to receive one of the two sprays or a placebo. Pain and satisfaction were measured right after the needle insertion using standard scales.
