First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This completed Phase 2 study enrolled 84 adults with mild to moderate plaque and gingivitis. Participants were randomly assigned to use one of two manual toothbrush and toothpaste regimens at home for 6 weeks. Dentists measured plaque and gum inflammation at 1, 3, and 6 weeks to see which regimen worked better.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

manual toothbrush and toothpaste

What this could lead to

If successful, this could confirm that a specific toothbrush and toothpaste combination is more effective at reducing plaque and gum inflammation than another.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed Phase 2 study with only 84 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Also, it tests a common product, so any benefit is likely modest.
