Which filling lasts longest? new study tests three materials for tooth repair
NCT ID NCT06375837
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares three types of dental filling materials for repairing non-carious cervical lesions (tooth damage not caused by cavities). Thirty-three adults with at least three such lesions will receive each material in different teeth. Over two years, dentists will rate how well each filling looks and functions. The goal is to find which material performs best.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
dental restorative materials (alkasite-based, hybrid resin composite, flowable resin composite)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could identify which dental material works best for repairing tooth lesions, improving long-term dental restoration choices.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 33 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The materials may perform differently in real-world use.
