New tooth transplant technique could replace implants for young patients
NCT ID NCT07393997
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a tooth transplant procedure where a tooth is moved from one spot to another in the same person, with a special gel (PRF) made from their own blood to help healing. The goal is to see if this approach helps the tooth survive and stay healthy, especially in young patients who can't get dental implants. Only 5 people will be enrolled, and the study will check for signs of root damage, infection, and gum health over time.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
autologous platelet-rich fibrin (PRF)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a more natural alternative to dental implants, especially for young patients, by helping transplanted teeth heal and stay healthy.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early-stage study with only 5 participants, so results may not apply widely. Risks include root resorption, infection, or the tooth not surviving long-term.
