Tongue scans reveal hidden clues about childhood obesity and sleep apnea

NCT ID NCT07370350

First seen Jan 28, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looks at how the tongue changes in children and teens with obesity after a 30-week weight loss program. Researchers use ultrasound to measure tongue fat, size, and stiffness, and see how these relate to sleep apnea. About 100 participants aged 6 to 18 will be scanned at the start and end of the program. The goal is to better understand tongue health in obesity, not to test a new treatment.
