NCT ID NCT07203508
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested a home-based tongue exercise (pressing the tongue against the roof of the mouth) in 17 older adults with swallowing problems. The goal was to see if this simple exercise could strengthen swallowing muscles and reduce the risk of food or liquid entering the airway. Participants did the exercise 5 times a week for 8 weeks, with help from a caregiver. The study compared them to a group receiving standard hospital therapy.
