Experimental chest injection aims to stop cancer fluid buildup
NCT ID NCT07332858
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This early study tests a drug called TolueneSulfonamide, injected directly into the chest cavity, to see if it can safely reduce fluid buildup in people with lung cancer. About 105 participants will receive the drug three times a week for one week. The goal is to control the fluid and ease breathing, but the main focus is on safety.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
TolueneSulfonamide (a chemical compound injected into the chest cavity)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new way to control fluid buildup in the chest caused by lung cancer, reducing breathing difficulty.
What could go wrong
This is a very early (Phase 1/2) study with only 105 people. The drug may not work or could cause side effects like chest pain or infection. Success is far from guaranteed.
