Brain zaps & talk therapy: a new hope to stop veteran suicide

NCT ID NCT03952468

Summary

This study tested if combining two existing treatments could better reduce suicidal thoughts and behaviors in veterans at high risk. Veterans recently hospitalized for suicide risk received either a special talk therapy plus a non-invasive magnetic brain stimulation treatment, or the therapy plus a fake stimulation. Researchers checked if the real combination led to fewer suicide attempts and less severe thoughts over a year.
