Brain zaps tested to calm bipolar mood swings

NCT ID NCT03622749

Summary

This small, completed study explored whether a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called TMS could help people with bipolar disorder regulate their emotions better. Researchers tested 19 participants to see if stimulating specific brain areas improved their performance on emotion-related computer tasks. The goal was to gather early information to see if TMS could be developed into a future treatment for the emotional ups and downs of bipolar disorder.
