New hope for older leukemia patients: targeted radiation before transplant may reduce side effects

NCT ID NCT07582172

First seen May 13, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a new way to prepare older patients (50 and older) with leukemia or MDS that has not responded to treatment for a stem cell transplant. Instead of full-body radiation, they receive targeted radiation to the bone marrow and lymph nodes, plus two chemotherapy drugs. The goal is to make the transplant safer and more effective for patients who are often too frail for standard treatments.
