Jaw pain may dull your bite sensitivity, new study suggests
NCT ID NCT07163494
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 38 times
Summary
This study looks at whether people with long-term jaw pain (temporomandibular disorder, or TMD) have a harder time feeling thin foils between their teeth compared to healthy people. Researchers will test 80 adults—40 with jaw pain and 40 without—by placing different foil thicknesses between their back teeth and asking if they can feel them. The goal is to better understand how jaw pain changes bite sensitivity and how it relates to other symptoms.
