Jawbone repair showdown: titanium vs. High-Tech plastic mesh

NCT ID NCT07002931

First seen Apr 15, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested two methods for rebuilding the jawbone in 14 people who needed dental implants. One group received a pre-shaped titanium mesh, and the other a custom-made PEEK (a type of medical plastic) mesh. Both were filled with a mix of the patient's own bone and donor bone. The goal was to see which mesh better restored bone width and volume over 6 months, using 3D scans to measure the results.
