Could a Pre-Surgery immune drug shrink early lung cancer nodules?
NCT ID NCT04047186
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This pilot study tested the drug Tislelizumab given before surgery in 12 people with early-stage lung cancer who also had multiple ground-glass nodules on CT scans. The goal was to see if the drug could shrink tumors before removal. Researchers measured how many patients responded and tracked side effects.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Tislelizumab (a drug that helps the immune system fight cancer)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a way to shrink early lung tumors before surgery, possibly improving outcomes for people with multiple lung nodules.
What could go wrong
This is a very small pilot study with only 12 people, so results may not apply to everyone. The drug can cause immune-related side effects, and it is not yet proven to be better than standard care.
