Doctors develop calculator to predict dangerous brain fog after liver surgery
NCT ID NCT07437638
Summary
This study looks back at the medical records of 624 patients with advanced liver disease who had a procedure called TIPS. The goal is to find common factors that can predict which patients are most likely to develop a serious side effect called hepatic encephalopathy, or 'brain fog,' after the surgery. Researchers will use this information to build a simple scoring tool to help doctors assess risk before the procedure and plan better care for high-risk patients.
