First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looks at a procedure called TIPS used to treat complications of portal hypertension (high blood pressure in the liver) in people with a rare liver disease called Porto-Sinusoidal Vascular Disease (PSVD). Researchers will compare outcomes in 360 patients with PSVD to similar patients with cirrhosis who also had TIPS. The goal is to learn when and how TIPS works best for PSVD, since current guidelines are based on cirrhosis. No new treatments are given—this is an observational study using existing medical records.
