First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tests a new way to manage bleeding risk in people with liver cirrhosis who need a TIPS procedure (a shunt placed in the liver). Instead of standard care, doctors will use a special blood test (thrombelastography) to decide if and when to give blood products before the procedure. The goal is to reduce unnecessary transfusions and complications. About 39 adults with cirrhosis will participate.
