Time-Restricted eating tested to cut heart risk in childhood cancer survivors
NCT ID NCT07009288
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether time-restricted eating (eating only during a set window each day) combined with regular coaching calls can help adult survivors of childhood cancer lose weight and lower their risk for heart disease and diabetes. Three hundred survivors with a BMI of 25 or higher will either follow the eating plan with coaching or receive standard educational materials and monthly weight checks. The goal is to see if this approach leads to meaningful weight loss and better blood sugar levels.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- time-restricted eating (TRE) plus motivational coaching calls
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a simple, drug-free way for childhood cancer survivors to manage weight and reduce their risk of heart disease and diabetes.
- What could go wrong
- This is a behavioral study, not a drug trial, so results depend on participants sticking to the fasting schedule. It is also early-stage and may not work for everyone or produce lasting changes.
