New tablet test aims to spot language problems in young psychiatry patients
NCT ID NCT07283458
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This pilot study will test a tablet-based tool called TICOALA that checks language comprehension and learning in children aged 3 to 7 who visit a child psychiatry service in Paris. Researchers want to see if children, parents, and clinicians find the tool acceptable and if a larger study is possible. The goal is to help identify language difficulties early, since speech therapists are often scarce in these clinics.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
TICOALA tablet-based language comprehension and learning test
What this could lead to
If successful, this tool could help child psychiatry services quickly identify language difficulties in young children, guiding them to proper speech therapy.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study (50 children) testing only acceptability and feasibility, not effectiveness. The tool may not work well for all children or may not improve outcomes.
