Could an herbal patch ease pain after cancer?

NCT ID NCT04916249

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether an over-the-counter herbal pain patch, called Tibetree Pain Relieving Plaster, can reduce muscle and joint pain in people who have finished active cancer treatment. Sixty-eight cancer survivors will apply either the active patch or a placebo patch to their painful area for 6 hours daily over 14 days. The main goal is to see if the patch lowers pain severity and how much pain interferes with daily life.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Tibetree Pain Relieving Plaster (herbal patch)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, over-the-counter option for managing lingering muscle and joint pain after cancer treatment.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial with only 68 participants. The placebo effect is strong for pain, so the patch may not prove better than placebo. Results may not apply to all cancer survivors.
