First seen Feb 02, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looks at whether giving a thyroid hormone pill (levothyroxine) to people with mild thyroid issues before heart bypass surgery can lower the risk of heart problems like heart attack, stroke, or irregular heartbeat. About 338 adults will be randomly assigned to receive the hormone or not, and they will be followed for up to five years. The goal is to see if this simple treatment can improve recovery and long-term heart health.
