First seen Apr 08, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tests a new surgical procedure for basal joint arthritis (thumb arthritis) that uses a donated bone and cartilage implant at the base of the thumb. It compares this new approach to the current standard surgery. Researchers will follow 200 adults for one year after surgery to see which method better improves hand function and reduces disability.
