Thumb surgery recovery: is therapy a must or a myth?

Summary

This study looks at whether formal hand therapy is needed after surgery for thumb arthritis. About 180 adults having thumb joint surgery will be randomly assigned to either get standard in-clinic therapy or not. The goal is to see if skipping therapy affects thumb movement and function.
