Summary

This study is developing and testing a program called THRiVE for veterans who recently left the military. The program consists of six weekly virtual group sessions led by a peer (another veteran). The goal is to see if the program is practical, well-liked, and may help improve mental health and reduce suicide risk. Up to 40 participants will be followed for about 5 months.

Active substance
Transition Health and Resilience through Valued Experiences (THRiVE) Program
What this could lead to
If this program proves feasible and acceptable, it could point toward a scalable, peer-led support option to ease the military-to-civilian transition and reduce suicide risk.
What could go wrong
This is a very small pilot study (40 people) focused on feasibility, not effectiveness. The program may not show meaningful mental health benefits or may not work for all veterans.
