Gum disease clue: antioxidant levels may reveal severity
NCT ID NCT07598942
First seen Jun 02, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a natural antioxidant marker in gum tissue can help tell how severe gum disease (periodontitis) is. Researchers measured levels of thioredoxin reductase 1 and other markers in gum samples from 60 healthy people and patients with different stages of gum disease. The goal was to see if these markers could be used as a diagnostic tool, not to provide a treatment.
