Thickened feeds tested for infant breathing scares

NCT ID NCT04477460

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether thickening the milk or formula of infants who have had a brief unexplained event (a scary but temporary episode of stopped breathing or color change) can reduce repeat episodes and hospital visits. Researchers will follow 250 babies under 1 year old for up to 12 months, comparing those who get thickened feeds with those who do not. The goal is to see if this simple change improves outcomes and eases parents' anxiety.
