Tiny brain burns tested to calm Kids' seizures

NCT ID NCT02886650

Summary

This study tested a procedure called thermocoagulation in children with severe, drug-resistant epilepsy. During a standard pre-surgery brain monitoring period, doctors applied tiny, precise heat burns to the specific brain area causing seizures. The goal was to see if this could stop or significantly reduce seizure frequency for weeks or months, offering a potential benefit and helping confirm the correct area for any future surgery.
