Can talk therapy protect your heart? new study links PTSD treatment to lower cardiovascular risk

NCT ID NCT06429293

Summary

This small pilot study is testing whether a standard talk therapy for PTSD (Cognitive Processing Therapy) can reduce the risk of heart disease in people with both PTSD and heart risk factors. Researchers will measure changes in brain activity, body-wide inflammation, and nervous system function before and after therapy to see if the treatment helps. The goal is to understand if treating PTSD can also protect physical health by affecting biological stress pathways.
