Gamers' dry eyes: new eyedrop tested for protection
NCT ID NCT06163989
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether TheaLoz Duo eyedrops can protect the eyes of people who play handheld console or computer games for at least 2 hours daily. 28 participants with mild dry eye symptoms will use the drops for one month and no drops for another month, in random order. Researchers will measure changes in dry eye symptoms and eye strain using questionnaires.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
TheaLoz Duo eyedrop (trehalose and sodium hyaluronate)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that lubricating eyedrops help prevent dry eyes and discomfort in people who game for hours daily.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 28 participants. The results may not apply to all gamers, and the drops might not provide significant protection over simply taking breaks.
