What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
SmartMom text messaging program
What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that simple text messages can help pregnant people adopt healthier behaviors and improve pregnancy outcomes.
What could go wrong
This is a behavioral study, not a drug trial, so the effect may be small. The control group also gets pregnancy messages, which may reduce the difference between groups.
