Texts to the rescue: new study aims to curb binge drinking in young airmen
NCT ID NCT06318975
First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether adding well-timed text messages to a standard alcohol education program can help prevent binge drinking and related trouble (like DUIs) in about 3,000 US Air Force technical trainees. Participants will either get the usual program or the usual program plus automated texts sent just before, during, and after they first get access to alcohol off base. The goal is to see if the texts reduce risky drinking and alcohol-related incidents over six months.
