Scientists test lab vs. online methods for studying smoker purchases

NCT ID NCT05946031

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looked at whether doing a tobacco buying experiment in a lab or remotely (online) gives similar results. 87 adult smokers who smoke at least 5 cigarettes a day took part. They made pretend purchases of cigarettes and other tobacco products at different prices. The goal was to see how price changes affect what people buy, not to test any treatment.
