New tech could help save children from pneumonia in Low-Resource clinics

NCT ID NCT05914324

Summary

This study is testing two new, low-cost pulse oximeter devices designed for children in low-resource clinics in Cape Town, South Africa. It aims to see if these devices help healthcare workers better identify babies and toddlers with dangerously low oxygen levels from pneumonia, so they can be correctly referred for urgent hospital care. The study will also measure how common low oxygen is in these children and their risk of death.
