Brain device test aims to stop seizures before they start

NCT ID NCT06898138

Not yet recruiting Knowledge-focused Sponsor: Mayo Clinic Source: ClinicalTrials.gov ↗

Summary

This study is testing a new external brain device to see if it can detect specific brain signals that may predict epileptic seizures. Researchers will use the device to record brain activity and deliver targeted electrical stimulation in 8 patients with drug-resistant epilepsy who are already undergoing monitoring. The goal is to learn if this approach could one day be used in an implanted system to prevent seizures from occurring, rather than just responding after they start.
