New DNA test could revolutionize treatment for drug-resistant TB
NCT ID NCT05007795
First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether a new DNA-based test (sputum sequencing) can quickly identify which TB drugs will work for people with drug-resistant TB. Current tests are slow and miss some resistance, leading to poor outcomes. The trial will compare the new test to standard methods in 280 adults with rifampicin-resistant TB to see if it helps doctors choose effective drugs faster.
