NCT ID NCT07304466

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study compares two medications, terlipressin and somatostatin, to see which one better lowers high blood pressure in the liver's main vein during a living-donor liver transplant. High pressure there can cause dangerous bleeding. About 50 adults with severe liver disease and high portal pressure will receive one of the drugs during surgery and for 24 hours after. Researchers will measure pressure changes, blood loss, and need for transfusions, following patients for a week after surgery.
