Clot-Busting drug before transfer may boost stroke recovery

NCT ID NCT07203625

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether giving a clot-busting drug (tenecteplase) before transferring patients with a severe stroke in the back of the brain (basilar artery occlusion) to a specialized hospital can improve recovery. About 316 adults who had a stroke 4.5 to 24 hours earlier will receive the drug or a placebo before a procedure to remove the clot. The goal is to see if more people regain independence at 90 days.
