Zap your way back to speech? new brain stimulation trial for stroke survivors
NCT ID NCT07346378
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called temporal interference stimulation to see if it can safely improve language abilities in people with post-stroke aphasia. The trial will enroll 40 adults who have language problems after a stroke. Researchers will measure changes in language tests before and after the stimulation to evaluate its effects.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
temporal interference stimulation (non-invasive brain stimulation using electric fields)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new, non-invasive way to improve language recovery after a stroke, potentially reducing long-term communication problems.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 40 participants and no comparison group, so results may not be conclusive. The technique is still experimental and individual responses may vary.
