Gene therapy takes on glioblastoma: new hope for aggressive brain cancer?

NCT ID NCT03866109

First seen Feb 09, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This early-phase trial tests a new treatment called Temferon for glioblastoma, a fast-growing brain cancer. It uses a patient's own blood stem cells, modified to deliver an immune-boosting protein (interferon) directly to the tumor. The study enrolls up to 27 people whose tumors have a specific genetic marker (unmethylated MGMT) and aims to find a safe dose while checking for side effects.
