Can rehab at home help stroke survivors regain arm function?
NCT ID NCT06682429
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Aug 05, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study tests whether a home-based telerehabilitation program, using games, exercises, and video calls with therapists, can improve arm function and reduce disability in people who had a stroke 90-150 days ago. 202 participants will be randomly assigned to receive telerehabilitation plus usual care or usual care alone. The main goal is to see if arm function improves more with telerehabilitation.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- telerehabilitation system (computer-based games, exercises, stroke education, and videoconferencing with therapists)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could provide an effective, convenient way to improve arm function and reduce disability after stroke, potentially making rehabilitation more accessible from home.
- What could go wrong
- This is a relatively small, early-stage trial. The telerehabilitation may not prove significantly better than usual care, and results may not apply to all stroke survivors. Adherence to the 70-minute daily sessions may be challenging.
