Thinking away back pain? study tests Mind-Body link in online therapy

NCT ID NCT06859645

Summary

This study tested if adding a special mental training exercise to standard online physical therapy could help people with long-term, non-specific low back pain. Thirty-two adults with chronic back pain received supervised online exercises. Half also practiced 'motor imagery'—mentally rehearsing movements without physically doing them—daily for eight weeks. Researchers measured changes in pain, physical function, fatigue, and mood to see if the mental exercises provided extra relief.
