First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether trauma-focused therapy delivered via telehealth can reduce PTSD symptoms in underserved youth aged 7-18 in Puerto Rico. Eighty participants who have experienced trauma and have significant PTSD symptoms will receive the therapy remotely. The goal is to see if this approach is effective and practical for reaching youth who face barriers to in-person care.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy delivered via telehealth
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could provide an effective, accessible way to deliver trauma therapy to underserved youth who might otherwise go untreated.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small trial (80 participants) testing an existing therapy in a new format, so results may not apply broadly. The therapy requires active participation from both youth and caregivers, which may be challenging via telehealth.
