Massive study hunts hidden triggers of childhood diabetes
NCT ID NCT00279318
Summary
This study aimed to discover what in the environment—like viruses, diet, or stress—might trigger type 1 diabetes in children who are genetically at risk. Researchers followed over 8,600 newborns with a family history of diabetes or high-risk genes from infancy, collecting health data and samples for years. The goal was to gather knowledge to eventually develop ways to prevent or delay the disease.
