VA launches major trial: can a 'Surgery Pause' save frail Veterans' lives?
NCT ID NCT05037292
Summary
This study is testing a new team-based care model for frail Veterans scheduled for elective surgery. At three large VA hospitals, Veterans identified as frail will have their case reviewed by a special board of doctors and specialists from different fields before surgery. The goal is to see if this coordinated team approach leads to better recovery, fewer deaths, and more time spent at home after surgery.
