New study: asking moms to repeat instructions boosts breastfeeding success

NCT ID NCT07407335

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested a teaching method called 'teach-back' for breastfeeding education in 102 first-time mothers. In teach-back, the educator asks the mother to explain the information in her own words to check understanding. The study compared teach-back to standard education and measured breastfeeding success, confidence, and mother-infant bonding at 6 and 24 hours after birth. The goal was to see if this simple technique improves early breastfeeding outcomes.
